Privacy Policy

Tadween is a personal finance app built so that your financial information stays with you. The short version: we don't collect any of it. The only way anything you add leaves your device is if you turn on iCloud Sync, which stores it in your own private iCloud database, or connect your own Google Gemini key, described below.

What we collect

Nothing. Tadween has no account or sign-up, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. We do not receive, store, sell or share your transactions, receipts or any other information, and we have no server that holds your data.

Where your data is stored

Everything you add, including transactions, categories, labels, accounts, goals, recurring items and settings, is stored in a database on your device. Receipt photos and documents you attach are stored on your device too, and you can remove them at any time in Settings → Privacy.

Optional iCloud sync

If you turn on iCloud Sync, your data is stored in your own private iCloud database using Apple's CloudKit, so it stays up to date across your Apple devices. That database belongs to your Apple Account: only you can access it, and we cannot read it. Receipt images are not synced; they stay on the device where you added them. Apple's handling of iCloud data is described in Apple's Privacy Policy. You can turn sync off at any time; your data remains on your device.

Camera, photos, microphone and speech

Camera and photos are used only when you choose to scan or import a receipt or document. Text is recognized on your device.
Microphone and speech recognition are used only when you choose to add a transaction by voice. Unless you turn on Google Gemini, recognition is required to run on your device. Audio is never sent to us.
Unless you turn on Google Gemini, turning text, receipts and speech into transactions happens entirely on your device.

Ask

On iPhones with Apple Intelligence, you can ask questions about your money in Ask. Answers are worked out by Apple's on-device model, which reads your data on the device to respond. Your questions and data aren't sent to us, to Google Gemini or anywhere else, and Ask can't add, change or delete anything.

Learned categories

When you correct a category, Tadween remembers your preferred category for that merchant, on your device. You can clear this at any time with Forget Learned Categories in Settings → Privacy.

Optional: Google Gemini with your own API key

Tadween can use Google Gemini to understand dialects and mixed languages. It is off by default and only works after you choose it in Settings → AI Processing, agree to a screen that explains what is sent, and add your own Gemini API key from Google.

What is sent to Google: the notes you type, your voice recordings, the text read from receipts, and your category names, each time you add a transaction that way.
What is never sent: receipt images, your transactions, balances, goals or anything else stored in the app.
Requests go directly from your device to Google using your key. We run no server in between and never receive your key or your data. Recordings are deleted from your device once they have been written down.
Your key is stored in your device's keychain. It isn't synced, backed up or shared.
Google processes this data under its own terms and your Google account. On Google's free tier, content may be used to improve Google's products; on a paid plan it isn't. See the Gemini API Additional Terms and Google's Privacy Policy.
You can stop at any time in Settings → AI Processing, and remove the key there.

Notifications

If you enable the daily reminder, it is scheduled on your device and never includes amounts or merchant names.

Backups and exports

Backups (JSON) and exports (CSV) are files you create and choose where to save or share. We never receive them.

Deleting your data

Because your data is stored on your device and in your own iCloud, you're in control of deleting it:

Deleting the app removes your transactions, receipts and settings from that device. If you added a Gemini API key, remove it first in Settings → AI Processing, because iOS may keep keychain items after an app is deleted.
Settings → Privacy lets you remove all receipt images and forget learned categories without deleting your transactions.
If you used iCloud Sync, you can delete Tadween's iCloud data from your iCloud storage settings on your iPhone.

We hold no copy of your data, so there is nothing for us to delete on your behalf.

Children

Tadween does not collect personal information from anyone, including children. The optional Google Gemini feature requires a Google account and API key, which are subject to Google's own age requirements.

This website

This website doesn't use cookies, analytics or third-party scripts, and loads no fonts or files from other services. The hosting provider may keep standard technical logs, such as IP addresses, to operate and secure the site.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
